Steve is a native of Lincolnton, North Carolina. He attended The Citadel on a football scholarship for his undergraduate education, graduating in 1970. Steve then attended Wake Forest University Law School where he graduated with a juris doctorate degree in 1973 and he was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 1973. Steve has practiced law in Hickory, North Carolina since 1973. Throughout his career Steve has practiced criminal and civil law in the district, superior and federal courts. Steve has also appeared before the United States Supreme Court. Steve’s main legal focus is civil law, specializing in family law, and estate planning, administration and probate. Steve has been married to his wife Jeannie for 30 years, they have four children, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Steve and Jeannie have been strong and active members of Corinth Reformed Church in Hickory, North Carolina for almost 30 years. Steve has been an active leader and staunch supporter of the Boy Scouts of America for the last 20 years and currently serves as the Piedmont Council’s attorney.
